Inspired by Snake spirit, this piece taught me the importance of slowing down and being comfortable going at a pace that I'm uncomfortable with.

I was drawn to making a snake piece not just because of the astrological symbolism, but to also deepen my artistic practice working on more animals.

In my vision, I saw a tree located in a dark cavern, surrounded by foliage and lit by the moon.

The Snake was hanging gracefully from the branch, looking at me with softness.

It was a calming feminine presence that invited me to sense the beauty in slowness.

There was a lagoon next to the tree, however I decided to focus more on the foliage.

There are thousands of depictions of Snakes and trees, with some of these depictions having negative connotations too.

"Sense and Surrender" is not about the shedding process or transformation through struggle.

It is also not a reinterpretation of familiar narratives or myths about temptation, awakenings, activations or rebirths.

It is about the reclamation of self... who you are once the shedding has already taken place, and the quiet strength that comes from accepting both your shadow and light.

I see the Snake as a teacher of surrender, and a guide to transforming fear into strength.

This piece invites you to sense the beauty around you, whether it's bright or dark, loud or quiet, full or empty.

To be present in the stillness that remains when you have returned to yourself.
