Story Behind the Art

Rich Symbolism and Cultural Heritage Ancient Inspiration: The original horse design is inspired by the ancient art of Chinese paper cutting, symbolizing power, wisdom, and prosperity.

Significance of Red Packets: Traditionally used in East and Southeast Asian cultures, red packets (also known as Ang Pao or Hong Bao) symbolize good luck and ward off evil. They are customary gifts for special occasions, especially during the Lunar New Year.

The Chinese Zodiac and the Fire Horse
The Chinese Zodiac, based on a 12-year cycle, assigns an animal and one of the five elements to each year. 2026 is the Year of the Fire Horse, known for transformative momentum and new adventure.

This year invites us to ignite our purpose with intention and clarity. Learn about the legendary race organized by the Jade Emperor and the Horse's seventh-place finish, exemplifying optimism and courage.

The Year of the Fire Horse
The Horse is the seventh animal in the Chinese Zodiac that follows the Snake. In the ancient story of the Great Race hosted by the Jade Emperor, the Horse earned its place through strength, endurance and a determined spirit.

Graceful and fast, the Horse ran tirelessly toward the finish line, confident in its natural speed and steady momentum. As the Horse approached the final stretch, a small creature hidden beneath its hooves suddenly leapt forward, which was the Snake! Who had quietly hitched a ride throughout the journey.

Startled, the Horse instinctively stumbled back for a moment, allowing the Snake to slip into sixth place. The Horse regained its stride almost instantly, crossing the line in seventh place.

Although surprised, the Horse showed no resentment. Instead, it accepted the outcome with grace, embodying its nature as a noble, free-spirited being who trusts the flow of life even when things unfold unexpectedly.

The Jade Emperor honoured the Horse’s perseverance, awarding it the seventh position in the Chinese Zodiac. This story highlights the Horse’s unwavering dedication, its compassionate heart, and its ability to keep moving forward—even when surprised or thrown off course.

(*This story is widespread and varies slightly among Chinese mythology.)
