FAQs

How do you produce your artwork?

I’m a digital artist, therefore all my designs are designed digitally on the computer. Most designs are roughly sketched on paper beforehand. For the A3 and A4 prints, they are screen-printed by hand. Screen printing is a technique where a mesh is used to transfer ink onto the medium. It’s a popular printing technique (that’s also probably about 2000 years old) that’s commonly used for printing designs onto apparel. All prints are printed onto FSC certified paper and are made from 100% recycled paper.

Why screen prints instead of digital prints?

I’ve always loved the technique of screen printing and the process that’s involved in performing the print. The minimal nature of my art which is beneficial for meditation makes the prints perfect for using the screen printing method, plus I also like the feel of the subtle texture of a screen print. Although you wouldn’t touch a paper screen print with your hand all the time (or at all), when you look at a paper screen print, you can still see that it’s not digitally printed and I feel that makes the print a little bit more special. I have worked with a fine art screen printer who have years of experience with screen printing and strive to create the highest quality prints as sustainably as they can. My goal is to also have my own little screen printing studio so that I can create these screen prints myself in-house.

Is everything eco-friendly in your store?

Not yet. Although there are more eco-friendly products being more available, there are still plenty of gaps in the market or either that, the cost of purchase is fairly high in Australia. My vision is to produce and package my art as sustainably as possible, and I am constantly looking for more enviromentally friendly ways to do so. I also hope that there will be more businesses who will be able to source and wholesale these items to smaller businesses (like me) so that we can all work together to reduce waste.

Do you have a retail store?

No I don’t, although plans on getting my own art studio set up is in the works, though realistically will take me a few more years to set up 🙂

I love your artwork but I don’t have a credit card or PayPal account. Can I still purchase your art?

I can arrange for direct debit/bank transfers. Please email me at germaine@empathdesigns.com to organise this.

Do you offer AfterPay?

Yes, I do!

How often do you ship out orders?

I ship out items 2-3 business days from purchase, which is also normally when payment clears.

How long does shipping take?

I currently use Australia Post to ship out orders, and I only ship items with tracking (registered mail with signature is available upon request). Truth be told, I’ve always been a little bit paranoid about postal services and I feel that shipping with tracking is the most assuring method of shipping.

Within Australia, shipping should take anywhere between 2-7 business days.

International shipping may take 7-14 business days.

Do you do returns, refunds or exchanges?

If there is a legitimate issue with your product, please inform me with 7 days upon receiving the item. Unfortunately with postal services, things can go wrong, which is why I try to ensure the products are protected as well as possible to prevent any damage. A refund or exchange for the same item or similarly priced item will be considered based on stock availability.
